Embroidery art is still very new to me. It is a great adventure though i am regularly baffled by the plethora of materials and techniques, and especially by the order of building pieces - which technique to employ at base level, and for the next layer and so forth. I am thrilled at finding a medium in which sparkle and metallics work; diaphanous fabrics are a joy both to sew and distort, but my favourite job is stitching - driving the sewing machine backwards and forwards, and hand stitching until the piece is so densely sewn i can't pull out my needle without pliers.
My heroine in the field is Maggie Ayres whose work takes my breath away.
