The Rectangle Blanket

I've been so busy making things lately that i haven't had time to photograph finished pieces or to blog them. I finished the blankey before Christmas - it took 47 nights in the end - and sewed the parts together and attached it to the backing fleece with big wooden buttons at the beginning of the month. It was a brilliant confirmation that every long journey begins with one small step. I enjoyed buying the odd ball of fancy wool, especially my namesake wool which would bankrupt me if i bought enough for a cardigan.
The next blanket project is an alphabet square one for my friend's small child. Orange is her favourite colour so lots of that.

blankey update!

I have finished the 35 rectangles! Going to buy some fleece today for the backing. It measures 163 x 94cm, approx 3 x 5 feet, and used 1kilo and 50 grammes of yarn. I've really enjoyed the blanket/throw/afghan process and am planning the next couple. I fancy a small alphabet one for my friend's baby.
